The Church of the Larger Fellowship began during World War II, as a way for Unitarian Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines to stay connected to their faith while they were serving overseas. A Vet in my Church's Peace Making work group took issue with that statement citing his belief many in our Church would dissuade their kids from service if they expressed a leaning that way. It would be a choice many would frown on as a sacrifice not worth the cost, or for some, plain dishonorable.
